Armadale

The city of Armadale is located on the south eastern edge of the Perth metropolitan region.

The major junction of the South Western and Albany Highways, which connect Perth with the South West and Great Southern regions of Western Australia is located within the city. The city is also the terminus of the Armadale railway line, one of five major railway lines to service Perth.

Many local residents commute to Perth via an excellent bus and rail public transport system. Also, the roads into Perth are excellent, although can be heavily congested during rush hour.

Many employment opportunities exist in the area, and strong growth continues. Local residents and visitors enjoy many sporting venues including an aquatic centre, various sports playing fields, an indoor recreation centre with gym, and netball and basketball courts etc. A BMX track is located nearby, plus a skate park also, several clubs and associations operate within the area. It is a very family orientated area with many parks and reserves for family picnics and BBQ’s with children’s play areas.

Several Pre primary, primary and secondary state and private schools are available in the area. The city is serviced by the Memorial Hospital and also by several medical centres which operate in the area. Residential property prices have risen and the area has now become quite expensive. The rental market is stable although home prices are higher than one would expect. Plenty of shopping is available in the area, including a large shopping centre with supermarkets, variety stores, boutique and specialty stores.

The Visitor Centre is open 7 days a week and provides a free accommodation and tour booking service. In addition, the centre also displays local arts and crafts, the Outpost Telegraph Centre and the Bert Tyler Vintage Machinery Museum.

Major attractions in the area include Araluen Botanic Park, Cohunu Koala Park, Armadale Reptile & Wildlife Centre. Also, there are many activities to participate in and places to see such as wineries, orchards, art galleries, museums, parks, dams, restaurants and cafes, with a variety of events that are hosted by the city counsel.
